Chapter 11: Ignorance 


Monday came and I have a short meeting with Lily about Lucas and we hope everything went well, so she asked me to keep in touch with Lucas’s uncle and that is Peter. I told her that I will follow up with this but I know I cannot face with Peter anymore. I ignored his messages and his missed call after that day. Hi Ms. Carla! This is May called from Lucas’s school. May I ask about how is Lucas doing at home these few days? “Oh, hi May! I’m good, thanks! About my dear son, I would like you to contact Peter as he is in charge of my children.” “I see. I will go to him. Many thanks and enjoy the rest of the day. Goodbye!” She replied with a Goodbye too. Lunch time, I am in Staff Room, while eating lunch with my colleagues; I listen to what they are discussing. Tom is an IT supporter and he said, “I don’t understand about girl. I am tired of my girlfriend as she keeps asking me about how much I love her? She asked me almost every day. Hmmm!” Rian is IT supporter but he is an intern and he replied to Tom, “I don’t know much about being as a couple life but I know the feeling of having crush on someone which is very hard to see your crush is looking at someone else.” When I heard that word then I looked at his face and our eyes met each other. Sooner, my eyes moved to another group of people who are chatting about the behavior of their students in the class. I can feel that Rian is still looking at me but I have to ignore this as I don’t like someone staring at me while I am eating or want to flirt me. After lunch, I arrived the office and then Lily pulled me into her office and said, “May, sth bad was happening during your lunch time in James’s class and Toath’s class. Lucas has a bad fight with Ben and they are in clinic, but I am not yet call to Lucas and Ben family. Could you help me with this?” “Yes, but may I know what was the problem between both of them? And please give me more detail about it so I can explain to parents.” “Of course, so listen……….. this is what was happening and please tell parents that now they are in clinic so please pick them up as we will not allow them to get into classroom until we can see parents and have a short meeting. Ooop! I already had a meeting with James and Toath and Supporter at school to discuss about what should we do with this case even though; we already decided the punishment but we still need to have a separation meeting for both parents to explain about their children behavior.” “Okay. I will check on them first then I will contact their parents. Thanks!” I left Lily’s office and headed to the clinic which near my office. Crack! The sound of the door and I saw they both are lying down on the cots and nurse is smiling at me but she took a deep breath when she looked at boys on the cots. I went to nurse and we had a talk outside of the room after that I moved to talk to both of them. Hi Ben! How is your feeling now? “I am fine but my face is hurt and I want to go home.” Ben replied with his fake pain due to what nurse had told me about his injury. “It’s okay. I’ll call your mom after finishing talking to both of you. Anyway, May I know what has happened in the toilet?” I asked Ben. “I don’t know, I just zipped my pants then I smiled at Lucas but immediately, Lucas hit me in the face and then I hit him back.”  “You’re a liar!” shouted Lucas. “Hi Lucas! Is not yet your turn to talk so please be patient and I’ll go to you after this, okay?” “But he lied you,” Lucas kept talking. I looked at his face and sent the message through my looking to Lucas to tell him to keep his mouth close. I looked back at Ben then I smiled with saying, “Thanks Ben and please rest on the cots and listen to us!” I moved to Lucas then I asked him, “Now, it is your turn, so please tell me about what has happened in the toilet.” I smiled and talked too him as he is my friend. “Ben is a liar! I HATE HIM,” shouted Lucas. “Please stop Lucas, this is clinic so you are not allowed to shout or make any sound that disturb other in here or outside.” I said sternly to Lucas and not so friendly with this as he is breaking the rule. “NOW, tell me what has happened in the toilet, why did you fight Ben and hit him?” actually, I knew that Lucas got very bad injuries and Ben doesn’t according to the nurse told me and I can see their situation well but I want Lucas to speak out about the problem but he kept on staring at Ben and didn’t say anything since the event has happened, so no one knows what was happening in the toilet as Lucas keeps his mouth shut about it. In my mind, I am thinking about contacting Peter but I have to inform Lucas’s mom first because anyway she is a mom. I headed to my office and dial Lucas’s mom number but she didn’t pick up so I pulled my phone and dial her number again then she picked up and without saying anything she said, “Hi May! Please call to Peter as I am busy now, sorry!” she hanged up and then I have no choice but to call Peter. Peter picked up immediately then I told him everything and he said, he would be in the office in 15mns.
