Chapter 5: Father and Daughter
“You should have dinner and I will stand by, if someone comes for coffee.” Similai said.
“It’s okay. I will eat later.” Mela replied.
“Why don’t you eat? Your mama cooks many delicious foods for us.” Mr. Pentagon said.
Mela walks away without replying her father.
“Why do you ignore your father?” Similai asked Mela at the kitchen in the early morning.
“I told you if he comes back then I will not call him “Papa” and he cannot ask me money anymore. Did you tell him already? If not then please tell him.” Mela replied her mother.
“I did and he won’t ask you money.” Her mama replied with a sad tune.
“Then stop calling me to join food with him.” Mela continued.
“Anyway, he is ur father. Why being so rude?” Similai raised her voice at Mela.
“Did he treat me as his daughter? Well, he might be used to when I was little but since I was 7 until now, he has not treated me as his daughter. And I still keep my word.” Mela cried and walked away from her mama.
“Oh, You’re here.” Similai whispered when she saw her husband listen at the door.
“Emm. I am here and I heard all. No worry! Time will make her becomes mature and she will realize things when she grows up.” Mr. Pentagon exclaimed with taking a deep breath with his wife.
1 year has passed
Time flies very fast. Today is the result of grade 12 releases and Mela is still in the kitchen without going to check.
“Mela, go ur result is releasing. I will be here.” Similai is insisting on pushing Mela to check her result.
“Okay.” Mela replied.
“She will fail as she doesn’t go to school regularly and I don’t see her holding book.” Mr. Pentagon is sitting with his drinking buddy outside of the store and chatting about Mela’s result.
“Did you remember a girl who is look like a skeleton in our extra classes? She failed.” The red t-shirt girl is talking with staring at Mela.
“Which one?” The blue t-shirt girl asked.
“The one who is always coming late and leaving early.” The girl replied.
“Oh, really? What is her name? I don’t know her name.” The blue one asked.
“I heard her name is Meta. She is popular in seducing school boys at school.” The red replied.
“Oh, I see.” The blue answered.
Mela felt tired and disappointed as she knew they are talking about her.
“Hey, you’re here! Come and see the result with me.” Asked Leaky.
Excuse me! Excuse me! Excuse me!
“Mela, you passed. You’ve got D.” Leaky shouted.
“Really? Can I see?” Mela asked.
“Here! Come over,” Leaky holding Mela’s hand and asked for the way.
“Oh, it is my name. Thanks, Leaky!” Mela said.
“She passed, but I see her name was failed.” The red exclaimed.
“I think you confused her name as I heard her friend was calling her Mela not Meta.” The blue said.
“Might be, but how can she pass? She did not go to school often and extra classes she did not share or talk with others even teacher.” The red said with a stern face.
“Anyway, let go home to celebrate for our result, okay?” The blue said.
“Okay.” The red replied.
“Mama, I passed. I’ve got D and just only one point I would get C.” Mela cried with excitement and when she looked at the back she saw her father was standing with a happy face but she ignored.
“Good. Good girl. Congratulation! I will cook a delicious food for you tonight.”
“Thanks, and I will text Sara to let her know.” Mela moved from her mama and pull her phone to text her sister.
“Hi! I am about to text you. I passed the exam and I have got D.” Mela talked without hearing “Hi” from her sister.
“Oh, really? Congratulation! I know you would pass. Hey, Mela passed her exam.” Sara replied but she is with Mela’s ex.
