Chapter 6: The Reward of Hard Working
1, 2, 3 …. 18 ….. 25 – Mela Pentagon – Passed. “mama, I passed scholarship at university in big city now. Should I go to study?” Mela called her mama. “You must go, my dear. You have to live your life different from me. We will talk more when you come back, okay?” Similai replied with her missing sound.
“Sis, I passed scholarship at Foreigner school.” Mela said.
“Really? That’s Great! You’re amazing! I am happy for you” Sara hugged her sister with her excitement.
“Who are you texting to?” Mela asked.
“Oh, I texted to my friend that tomorrow I am going home so, if he can go with us?” Sara replied with the face looked at the screen of the phone.
“You have male friend who lives near our home?” Mela continued.
“Yes, he was your ex.” Sara replied with a firm voice.
“Emm. I see. I will go alone if you go with him.” Mela sounded bad.
“Mela, he was not bad as you think. He is very helpful to me; he helps me with my English class at short course and document that I have to work on.” Sara answered.
“I didn’t say anything and it was over so I just don’t want you to mention his name to me.” Mela replied.
“Okay, I’ve got it. I won’t say his name in front of you anymore.” Sara replied.
Along the way home, Mela is crying on the motor while her sister riding the motorbike. She thought about leaving her mama to live with her papa and leave her sibling to live with the cruel situation that she has to deal with every day such as loan shark, banks, and study… etc.
“Mama, I miss you so much. Where is my little girl?” Mela asked.
“She is sleeping. You should rest first.” Similai replied.
“One ice coffee, please.” Mr. Brown called.
“okay, please wait.” Mela replied.
“Oh, Mela! You’re here. How was city?” Mr. Brown asked.
“Emm, it’s not bad but I don’t like it. I miss the sound of your calling coffee.” Mela replied with giggling.
“Ha ha. You’re still sweet. If you don’t like the stay here.” Mr. Brown replied.
“I will check it first. Thanks, and here is your coffee.” Mela handed the coffee.
“Thanks! Bye I need to check my chicken and will see ya.” Mr. Brown turned his bike and left.
“Mela, come and have dinner together?” calling Similai.
“No, ma. I will have it later. I have to choose movie for my customer.” Mela answer.
“Mela, I don’t put movie about a week so you can continue the one you have before. I told them that you will be here so I think they will come and watch movie.” Similai replied.
“Okay.” Mela answer.
Mela is thinking about the situation at home as her leaving just a week then her mama doesn’t sell at night time. She thought about how her mama support and her elder sister at city and how she takes care her two children at home. When she thought about this then she found the solution.
“Mama, did you see Moon? Where is him?” Mela asked from the kitchen.
“He always comes home late as he studies English and Math in the evening. He would arrive home at 8 pm.” Similai replied with the mouth eating.
“I see.” Mela replied.
“Mela, you’re here. I miss you; I miss movie and I miss you milk shake.” Xirou hugged Mela.
“Thanks. Please take a seat and would you order the same as usual?” Mela asked.
“Yes, please” Xirou replied.
Her shop is full of people as her came back make them feel very happy. Mela is good at making coffee and other drinks so everyone likes it. But at this moment, it makes Mela feels sad and undecidable on her leaving.
